E' NATO PRIMA L'UOVO O LA GALLINA?

WHICH THE EGG OR THE CHICKEN BORN FIRST?

Let's face it girls, there are existential questions we all ask ourselves:

- Dawson or Pacey

- Nutella croissant or cane sugar

- Marriage or cohabitation… oh well this in my case is more of a UTOPIA

But there's one that I've finally answered: WHICH WAS THE MONOGRAM OR THE DAMIER BORN FIRST ?

I won't give you the answer right away my friends, I've studied hard to solve the riddle and now you'll do me the favor of sipping up the meatloaf. I swear we'll do it soon.

The story begins, more or less, in the distant 1800s. Dear Luigi didn't have a mustache yet but he was already a Malletier (maker of trunks) with an entrepreneurial mind and a huge ego to say the least. Thus, ahead of its time, it makes suitcases an elite accessory that is recognizable indeed… unmistakable!

First think of a gray waxed cotton canvas (Grey Trianon), then red and beige stripes, then the “Marque L, Vuitton déposéè” logo…

Indefatigable, in 1889, he finally has the light!

ATTENTION HERE COMES THE SPOILER

On the occasion of the Universal Exposition, it presents the DAMIER: checked canvas worthy of the Queen of Chess. Declined in many versions – azur, ébene, graphite – it is still today the favorite canvas for sciure who love designer accessories but with discretion.

Another matter for those like me, who lose a beat at every LV.

We are George's (son of Louis) CHILDREN.

It was he, in fact, who in 1896 let himself be inspired by the majolica of the country kitchen and designed the logo: Initials of the Popes + flowers and diamonds that make up the MONOGRAM of our heart.

There would be stories to tell and debates to open: better Noé with 5 bottles of champagne, Twiggy's bow tie or Speedy like Audrey?

If you agree, we will untie these knots later; meanwhile, now that you know that the Damier is the Maison's egg (yes, the egg came first), I'll let you fool around with your friends who swear they love Vuitton but don't know as much as you do ;)

Ah… last thing! Scientific studies confirm that those who buy Damier loved Dawson and those who choose Monogram drooled for Pacey!
